I took the FTCE PK-12 Educational Media Specialist exam yesterday and passed, thank goodness. At FSU, they recommend you take this exam after completing LIS5512- School Collection Development and Management. I just finished that class a couple weeks ago, so that's why I chose to take the test now. I agree that I learned a lot of good information in LIS5512 that was covered on the test, but a lot of my other classes helped too. LIS5564 and LIS5565 gave me foundations in children's and young adult literature and some of the selection aids that librarians use. LIS5408 gave me knowledge of strategic plans, short-range plans, and long-range plans. LIS5703 gave me the basics of bibliographic records. Plus, there were things on the test that weren't covered in any of my classes.
One exam down, two to go!
