I was able to fix my basement back up (patch holes in the drywall from the plumbing leak last year, paint, rip out the last of the old carpet, lay down new carpet tiles, put the book cases back, bring all of my books back downstairs so they weren't on the floor in my dining room anymore, and rehang the pictures). Dad helped with the drywall patching since I didn't have a piece of drywall that fit in one of the holes, and Mike helped me by ripping out the old carpet tack strips, but I did the rest by myself.
I wish I had taken before pictures, but here's what it looks like now:
The holes in the drywall were basically behind the Lois and Clark poster and in the ceiling right above there in the second picture down.
I also managed to get my closet redone. It had water damage from a roof leak and was a really inefficient use of the space. It's a small closet with a weird slope in the floor because it's right above the stairs. This time I did kind of take a before picture as well as afters.
Before:
The shelves I ripped out:
The water damage in the corner:
The weird glue that held the shelf on. I had to scrape it off and it ripped the top layer of the drywall which meant I needed to do a lot of patching:
After:
My first class of the Fall 2009 semester starts tonight at 8pm, so I finished these projects just in time!
